RLI also works with senior research consultants who advise research staff on issues of research design, data analyses, practical matters of subject evaluation, assessment and treatment as well as abstract and manuscript preparation and submission. James M. Rippe, M.D. - Founder and Director
Beth Grady is the Editorial Director for Rippe Lifestyle Institute and Managing Editor of all of Dr. Rippe's medical and trade publications. As Managing Editor, Beth serves as the liaison between Dr. Rippe and the hundreds of contributing physicians to Dr. Rippe's publications. She oversees and coordinates the publication processes of all RLI publications including research papers, medical textbooks, trade books and other publications. She is responsible for communications with various publishing companies.
Since beginning her career with Dr. Rippe in 1985, Beth has served as Managing Editor of numerous publications including the following publications: Journal of Intensive Care Medicine; Irwin and Rippe's Intensive Care Medicine textbook, the Manual of Intensive Care Medicine; Procedures and Techniques in Intensive Care Medicine; the Review Book for Intensive Care Medicine; Lifestyle Medicine and the Manual of Overdoses and Poisonings.
During her tenure with Dr. Rippe, Beth also has coordinated the publication of all of Dr. Rippe's trade books on health and fitness including Fit Over Forty, Fitness Walking for Women, Lifestyle Nutrition, The Joint Health Prescription and Healthy Heart for Dummies.
Beth is a graduate of Lasell College and lives in Worcester, MA with her husband Peter.
Carol Moreau is Dr. Rippe's Executive Assistant, serving in this capacity since 1995. Carol brings over 20 year’s experience in executive support to company Presidents, Vice Presidents and CEOs. In the position of Executive Assistant, Carol supports the day-to-day activities of Dr. Rippe's consulting business and acts as liaison between Dr. Rippe and top executives of contractual partner companies. Carol is also responsible for coordinating Dr. Rippe's schedule and travel arrangements.
Connie brings over 30 years of experience to the position of Chief Financial Officer at Rippe Lifestyle Institute. She has extensive expertise in both a manufacturing and not-for-profit work environment. Former employers include World Sports International and Clark University. Connie is also active in a community outreach program and has held elective office on the boards of several local agencies. She holds a Liberal Arts degree from Worcester State College and a Business Administration/Accounting degree from Assumption College.
Debra has been at Rippe Lifestyle Institute in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts in the capacity of Office Assistant for the past 5 years. She lives in Worcester, Massachusetts with her husband and 2 children.
Rippe Multimedia is directed by Stephanie Hart Rippe. Ms. Rippe is an Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist with over 20 years of on-air media experience in television and radio news. She has reported and anchored for ABC, CBS and NBC affiliate television stations as well as network news including CNN and Fox News. She has also been an Arbitron-winning radio News Director for both AM and FM stations. Prior to joining Rippe Health as the Director of Rippe Multimedia, she served for almost ten years as the primary female news anchor for Boston's NECN (New England Cable News), the largest regional all-news station in the United States. Ms. Rippe has taught television technique to a variety of professional groups including business executives and health care professionals. Today, she oversees a variety of media projects at Rippe Health and works with multimedia formats including internet and web-based mass communications, broadcast, audio, digital and wireless services. She is the Executive Producer for Dr. Rippe and trains all on-air staff.

Dr. Rippe earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He serves as the Medical Director of Rippe Health Evaluation. Dr. Rippe is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has been practicing medicine for over 20 years in St. Joseph, Missouri. Prior to joining private practice, Dr. Rippe served in the United States Army as a commissioned Captain and was then promoted to Major. Most recently he has practiced as an Internist at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Dr. Rippe is a proud husband and father of five wonderful children. Dr. Rippe is the brother of James Rippe, M.D. Founder and Director of Rippe Health Evaluation.
Dr. Gugucheva is a Board Certified Internist and she serves as a Senior Staff Physician and the Medical Director of Executive Women's Health at Rippe Health Evaluation. She received her medical degree from Pavlov Higher Institute of Medicine, Bulgaria and completed postgraduate training at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Gugucheva has been practicing medicine for almost ten years. Throughout her career she has acquired extensive experience in different aspects of medicine, including serving as a teaching attending physician at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut and experience in private practice. She has also been involved with medical research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Hospital in New York City. She has more recently served as a medical consultant to different organizations, including the State of Florida Department of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Novartis Osteoarthritis Advisory Board, Schlesinger Associates, TNS Global, Adaptive Management Strategies, Inc. She has been honored with the Physician Recognition Award of the American Medical Association and she is a member of the American College of Physicians.
In her practice Dr. Gugucheva has always tried to motivate her patients to focus on lifestyle changes that promote good health. She lives a very active lifestyle, maintaining her personal fitness with an exercise program that includes a daily run and weight training. She lives in Winter Park with her husband, a Board Certified Cardiologist who practices with the Orlando Heart Center and their two children.
Amy is the Director of Marketing and Client Services for Rippe Health. She has worked with Dr. Rippe since 1999. As the Director of Marketing and Client Services, Amy oversees all of the new business opportunities and marketing of Dr. Rippe’s various projects. Amy is directly responsible for ensuring all clients receive quality customer service and that each and every need is met.
Amy has a degree in Health Fitness in Preventive and Rehabilitative Programming from Central Michigan University. She has worked in the healthcare field in a variety of roles. Amy previously worked as an Exercise Specialist at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan where she supervised diagnostic stress tests and Cardiac Rehabilitation classes. As well as working in the clinical field Amy was formerly the Clinical Integration Director of the Fitness Centre at Celebration Health and served as Director of Fitness and Exercise Physiology at the Rippe Health Assessment at Celebration Health for four years.
After receiving his Masters degree in Physical Education/Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida, Joshua remained at the University and served in a variety of positions including, Visiting Faculty, the Coordinator of the Exercise Physiology Laboratory and Senior Research Associate at the Center for Lifestyle Medicine. Joshua has numerous presentations at scientific conferences and peer reviewed publications to his name in the areas of muscle performance and growth, hormonal factors impacting appetite, lifestyle interventions for weight loss and the metabolic effects of fructose containing sugars. This research focus allowed for collaboration with the Rippe Lifestyle Institute, for whom Joshua officially joined the staff in 2009.
Noy Supaswud is the Executive Assistant and Office Manager at the Celebration location of Rippe Health. She has over 13 years of administrative experience. Noy is directly responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day to day details of the office. Noy also handles Dr. Rippe's schedule and administrative needs when in Celebration. She grew up in New York City and now resides in Orlando with her family and son.
Misty Whetzel is a Medical Technologist at Rippe Lifestyle Institute holding a Bachelors degree in Medical Technology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She has over 10 years of experience in various clinical laboratories performing testing used to diagnose, monitor, and treat diseases and medical conditions. Her interest in nutrition and metabolism led her to pursue lifestyle research.
Mackala is a National Certified Medical Assistant with the NCCT and graduated from the Central Florida Institute. Before joining Rippe Lifestyle Institute in 2012, Mackala worked for over 10 years in a diverse range of services, including management, customer service and marketing. At the Rippe Lifestyle Institute, she is the Recruiting Coordinator.
Kathleen Melanson, Ph.D., R.D., L.D.
Senior Research Consultant in Nutrition
Kathleen J. Melanson, Ph.D., R.D., L.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the University of Rhode Island, and Director of the Energy Metabolism Laboratory. Formerly, she was the Senior Scientist at Rippe Lifestyle Institute. Her areas of expertise include energy and macronutrient metabolism, energy balance, metabolic regulation, appetite physiology, healthy body weight management, nutrition and physical activity, and chronic disease prevention. She has published widely in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as book chapters, and has presented her work internationally. Her professional memberships include the American Dietetic Association, the International and North American Chapters of the Association for the Study of Obesity, the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior, and the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America. Dr. Melanson assists RLI research staff in the design and implementation of study protocols, planning experimental test meals and diets, data collection and interpretation, abstract and paper writing, and applications of outcomes.
